MSL Exam Practice
Privacy information
This notice explains how MSL Business School uses information provided through the Exam Practice portal.
Information we use
MSL Business School collects your email address directly from you and records your activity in the portal, including saved responses, results, bookmarks, papers you mark as read, your last opened model answers and the sections you reached. If you report a problem, we save the paper, problem type and your description. Please leave private information out of reports. We also record sign-in times and a broad browser/device label to help staff investigate account sharing; these records do not contain your IP address or a device fingerprint.
Why we use it
We use this information to sign you in, provide the correct examination access, save your progress, show your results, assist with support and protect the examination questions from misuse. If you are enrolled with MSL, we also use the email address you registered with us to open course material in Exam Practice, such as model answers, until the end of your course or sitting; the portal securely checks that address with MSL’s class list. Explicit staff-approved access exceptions use a protected, coded form of the address. Once enough students have sat a mock, your result may also be compared anonymously with other students' first completed attempts at that mock; only aggregate figures are shown, never names or individual results. In the same way, your own first completed attempt at each mock is included, anonymously, in the figures other students see. Exam Practice account information is not used for periodic marketing or advertising audiences.
What is required
An email address is required to use Exam Practice. Without it, we cannot verify your account, apply the correct access or save your progress.
How we protect it
We protect this information. Authorized MSL personnel and service providers may handle it only as needed to operate and support the portal.
How long we keep it
Your sign-in can last for up to 30 days between visits in one browser. A new sign-in ends the previous session, including on another device. An open portal checks its session at least every 30 seconds while visible and when you return to it. Sign-in history and problem reports are kept for 90 days. Unfinished attempts are kept for 90 days after your last activity. Completed attempts are kept for up to two years. Other information is kept only for as long as needed to operate the service and meet academic or legal requirements, then deleted in line with MSL's retention policy. Typing practice results (speeds, accuracy, counts and dates, never the text you type) are kept only in the browser on the device you use and are not sent to MSL; clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Your choices
To protect writing during interrupted saving, Exam Practice temporarily keeps your own unsaved responses and rough work in this browser, separately for each account. This copy contains no questions, model answers or sign-in credentials. It is available for recovery for up to seven days and expired copies are removed when the portal next uses that storage. Acknowledged ordinary saves remove their drafts. After submission, a recovery copy may remain if the reply does not confirm the exact accepted text, including after a successful submission; late or conflicting changes may also remain for download. Keeping a recovery copy does not change the submitted script or extend a deadline. Copies stay on this device, cannot be recovered on a different device and may be lost if browser storage is blocked, full or cleared. Signing out removes this account's device copies. Always sign out after using a shared device.
Released mock feedback requires active enrolment. Download it using Print or save as PDF before your enrolment ends if you want to keep it for offline use.
You can remove a bookmark or read marker using the same button that saved it. These markers are saved to your account until you remove them or your account is deleted. Reading positions and recently opened answers are saved to your account until your account is deleted, and follow you when you sign in on another device. They do not count as completed practice. Contact MSL to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a concern.
